Nicholas Ghesquiere and Louboutin. Tory Burch went for jewelled epaulettes on one sweater, and even Miuccia Prada is already stocking divine camouflage handbags - with or without sequins -- in her stores.

MADMEN

No one can deny the role that “Mad Men,” in particular Christina Hendricks’ fabulous curves, has had on fashion and body image over the last few seasons. Prada and Louis Vuitton lead the charge with 1950's and 60's retro ladylike silhouettes, nipped-in waists and full skirts a la Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven. It’s a look that embraces women who look like women. Indeed, just recently Marc Jacobs announced he was launching a plus-size range for women size 14 and up. If we believe Jacobs, and we really should, curves are here to stay.

Fall 2010 is the time to invest carefully in classics that will last a lifetime, and there has never been a greater offering of infinitely wearable clothes. Let the heirloom shopping begin!
