The Big Apple’s bi-annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week felt decidedly more uptown this season – literally – as hundreds of designers moved north to the massive, albeit slightly austere, new home of New York fashion at Lincoln Center. |

While IMG’s former Senior Vice President of MBFW, Fern Mallis, admitted she preferred the Bryant Park location to the new site -- which at moments felt like a live scene excerpted from Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World as editors (ranging from Alphas to Gammas) were relegated to scanning barcodes that confirmed our identities and allowed us to pass from venue to venue – design legend Carolina Herrera told PinkMemo that she loves the change, noting that fashion, of course, is nothing without change.
Though the backdrop was different, everything else stayed the same: jockeying for front row seats, chaotic backstage entrance check points, frenzied PR reps on headsets scurrying with clipboards directing well-heeled traffic, and the commercially-viable designs sent down runways by veteran designers and rising stars alike.
