The Art of Rodarte |

Seeking the safety of predictable prêt-a-porter? 'Tis thine, own folly, filly. To plod through commonplace corporeal adornment disturbs the digestion of types that embrace, wholeheartedly, the world of high fashion. Indeed, darling, the banalities of conventional clothing have no spot in this lot.
Delightfully distinctive as both whimsical and weird, it is a land that stands as a lone, zany zone and shan't be subject to the scrutiny of style-simpletons. 'Tis a rather quirky kingdom, filled with a flock of subjects who may be ironically identified as both focused and flighty.
For those who comprehend the caprice, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice. Thus, we'll neglect to notice the narrow vestment view of naysayer’ and appropriately applaud of the modern Lords and Ladies of the loom. |

Behold the banishing of boredom and all tedious traces of mediocre material manipulation with the pristine permutations of Rodarte. For young talents Kate and Laura Mulleavy, legitimacy lies in the love of the craft, and the dazzle factor is in the details. |

Its wardrobe wizardry for the twenty-first century, and this ready-to-wear is beyond remark, lark. In the aforementioned kingdom 'o couture, it is such savvy artisans as these that hold the castle keys. With fabrics dyed delicately by hand and meticulous stitching that could easily be the work of a seasoned couturier, the designers' aesthetic is like no other, as are the precise procedures they bring to each string. In the textile file, their preferences are unequivocally innovative and fabulously fresh.
The Mulleavy’s bring forth breathtaking fusions of fabric, utilizing mohair, yarn, synthetic sequins, and shiny laminated slices, and, in this multiple-choice test, 'all of the above' is the best. Out of such a flurry of matter, one might expect a mess, but in the realm of Rodarte, it's a masterpiece. Botched concoctions and accoutrement flukes do not exist here in this sphere. |

The draping, folding, and tucking of tulle, net, and mesh have become a Rodarte signature, and such an artful arranging of elements on each glorious garment serves to astonish and amaze. Often ornamenting with the most creative combinations of accoutrements, yet also displaying dame-worthy silhouettes and simple shirt-and-skirt pairings, Kate and Laura instill in their items an appeal that is justifiably real. Their contribution to couture is nascent and necessary, and such a skilled wielding of shears nearly brings one to tears. Feeling it, fawn? Right on. There's simply no room for laissez-fare with such high-ranking ready-to-wear. |

Rodarte's February showing in New York proved to be blissfully breathtaking. Fall's parade 'o prêt-a-porter was a stunning spectacle of wonderfully webby knits with piles of yarn affixed and billowing chiffon gowns splashed with sensational, swirling hues. In this outstandingly otherworldly collection, the designers toyed in tulle and played in plastic.
The juxtaposition of soft and synthetic served to dazzle and delight; par example, the delicate layers of netting placed atop glittering embroidered sequins and sky-high stilettos with jagged metallic details worn with woven knit tights.
Inspired and incredibly intricate designs such as deconstructed knit sweaters with tones of sand and sable carried a sensationally seasonless feel. |
