Not in the over-the-top Princess Diana way (although how we loved that confection and waited with baited breath for the royal couple’s first kiss in July of 1981!), but rather with a modern elegance and simplicity that does not belie the latent luxe factor.

The newest season of wedding gowns just swished down the runways in New York City, and that got us thinking about what’s new and what’s next in bridal style, both on and off the catwalk. As this flourishing industry grows ($20,000 is the national bridal bill average), gown offerings, color schemes, floral influences, and table décor trends have all risen to the occasion. Gabriella Risatti, designer of New York’s chic meatpacking bridal boutique, along with other wedding masters chime in to share up-to-date bridal bests.

First, the use of color beyond the iconic white -- simultaneously pioneered by bridal icons Reem Acra and Vera Wang last season -- has infiltrated the runways.
