Miguelina: Kicking back in style
 
NEW YORK | STYLE | 07.01.2010 | Melissa Whitworth.   Miguelina Gambaccini is rummaging through her enormous Goyard travel bag, complete with an “M.G.” monogram. From inside, she produces the selection of the stylish accessories - worthy of an international fashion designer - she takes on every trip.

There is a pair of wooden sandals made by a local artisan in Corsica and sold at a boutique called Carioca Plage. The sandals come with a fistful of brightly coloured laces, to change and match with each outfit. There is a pair of fire engine-red headphones by Urbanears, which she picked up at the Standard Hotel, Miami. Then, there’s a white linen floppy sunhat, a bright blue bikini from her own line, a neon rattan clutch by Brian Atwood, and a limited edition Leica camera in Hermès orange. Her travel essentials look like something they’ve been pulled from the pages of a fashion magazine.

Miguelina practices what she preaches: she has pared her packing regime down to a precise art. Founded in 1997 the Miguelina line, and her capsule Honeymoon collection (launched in 1999) has become the embodiment of
