The pair met six years ago when Betts, her mother and their family friend, Laura Bush, went to visit the Bill Blass showroom. "There was all this pomp and circumstance going on around this fitting and somehow Prabal and I hit it off immediately. Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face then to see him finally arrive, it couldn't have happened to a more sincere person."
Gurung is about to take a well-earned break to see his family in Nepal. Before leaving he says, "Every step so far has in some way shaped my design approach and aesthetic. Without the industry support I would not have hit certain goals and milestones." With typical Gurung humility, he adds, "People have been so kind to me. I am so thankful for everything."
