  New York Fashion Week

Burn, baby, burn.  A setting as marvelous and glamorous as Manhattan instills fashion fever that is, in truth, a privilege for one to stylishly suffer. A fiery feeling of collection affection propelled this exuberant editor forward with focus during New York's biannual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, an occurrence for which I had steadily yearned.  Days rife with fine design and nights of glittering soirees make a maven's heart wholly swollen, thus I shall provide divine details of the ride.

'Twas spring in the biosphere of Bryant, and Swarovski showers had apparently brought forth platform power. The Wizard of Oz Ruby Red Slipper Collection made its decadent debut in the famed windows of Saks Fifth Avenue as the official launch for MBFW and as a celebratory event in honor of the 70th anniversary of the beloved film.  Formed via a collaboration between formidable fashion designers and philanthropic partner, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the collection of custom designed pumps, boots, and beyond was beheld first and foremost at a gala event on September 4th at 10022-SHOE, Saks Fifth Avenue. The unveiling, understand, happened to be the inaugural incident of the week, and the shtick of the Yellow Brick was not to supersede a rather remarkable showing from designers such as Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Manolo Blahnik, Oscar de la Renta, and Roger Vivier, among others. The one-of-a-kind creations were auctioned with proceeds benefiting the foundation.  What a sensation.

Be informed, bella, seven shows in three days naturally makes for fluttering physiology. Barely breathing between fabulous presentations from Jill Stuart, Luca Luca, Ports 1961, Cynthia Steffe, Philosophy, Brian Reyes, and Douglas Hannant, I did manage to find a moment for surveying the swanky American Express Skybox. The elegant alcove designed by Desiron happened to be situated stylishly above the catwalk between the Tent and Promenade and would be available throughout the week for extravagant collection speculation by Gold, Platinum, and Centurion card members.

With four fashionable days of presentations, Style360 celebrated its fifth year as the alternative fashion destination for those looking beyond Bryant. On Sunday, September 7th, Dallas Darling Abi Ferrin presented her spring collection in the Metropolitan Pavilion. With such a fabulous showing from this extraordinary up-and-comer, one shall necessarily note, all's Ferrin love and fashion! The evening of Monday, September 8th your sartorial soul meandered to Bloomingdale's SoHo for the Moon Warriors exhibition featuring celebrity host Nigel Barker of America's Next Top Model fame. The event celebrated Barker's first Fashion Photography spread for American Photo magazine and saw the likes of celebrity DJ Josh Madden, style personality Robert Verdi and fashionable couple Simon Val Kempen and Alex McCord of The Real Housewives of New York City.

Guests sipped luscious libation combinations of Rose's Mojito Cocktail Mix and nibbled on delectable LU Biscuits whilst mingling amongst the congregation of celebrated personalities and perusing the racks of Bloomingdale's finery. On Tuesday, September 9th, leading UK lingerie brand Ultimo showed for the first time in the States with spicy spokeswoman Mel B.  The Caravan Collection show presented by Tide Total Care saw the likes of Legally Blonde’s Laura Bell Bundy, and Khloe Kardashian curated the Dash & Smooch show, which included Spring 2009 collections from her LA-based boutiques.  Russell Simmons presented the debut of his menswear line, ArgyleCulture with a most impressive list of attendees including supermodel Petra Nemcova and MTV VJ La La.  Simmons then played haute host at an after-party at High Bar, where the fashion flock experienced a haute deck with magnificent views of Midtown and moved to the lively beats of DJ D Nice.

The final Style360 fete, co-hosted by Taryn Manning and Tara Jane of Born Uniqorn commenced on the evening of Wednesday, September 10th at Metropolitan Home's Gramercy Park Showtime House. A rather fitting farewell to the week's resplendent runway action and included guests such as Alexandra Alexis, Dominique Swain, Elise Neal and Dania Ramirez.

Thus, another chapter closes in New York as we eagerly await February's fall shows in the Park, lark. The interim shall instill cravings for stylish spring things, as there are plenty of sartorial sensations through which to pour.

For those insatiable for imminent info, return regularly for more.
