"It all started on the corner of Bank and Greenwich." Two years ago the Chicago native decided her closets needed an overhaul, and held “the chicest stoop sale Manhattan has ever seen." |

Featuring items Burka deemed to be in “pristine” condition – many with the tags still on – she “took to the street” and women flocked to the impromptu sale. Burka laughs, “I met the majority of the West Village that day.” By sundown she was sold out.
A graduate of Chicago’s Columbia College with a degree in Fashion Management & Marketing, Burka moved to New York City immediately after graduation - “If you want to work in the fashion industry, you have to be in the middle of it.” After working in public relations, Burka created CorseTny. A tee-shirt with the structure of a corset – and was thrilled to have her line in Fred Segal in Santa Monica and Brown’s Focus in London. But the stoop sale set off a light bulb; Burka was inspired.
