February was all about falling in love with the Fall 2011 designer collections, as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week descended on a frosty Manhattan. Despite a few nostalgic “I miss the tents” sentiments, Lincoln Center eased into its second season as the destination du jour for runway shows. Inspired, we ran to get our names on pre-order lists at Bergdorf’s and rushed to open accounts with the newly launched Moda Operandi. While the thrill of the front row never grows old, this February we bring you three beautiful presentations that occurred offstage.

New Yorkers are still buzzing about Elise Øverland’s Fall 2011 presentation on the ice rink outside the Standard Hotel. “I wanted to mix it up a bit. An iced stage felt right; it wasn’t just about presenting designs. I enjoyed staging the performance. Music, light, movement, design…they are always present,” she said. True to the Norwegian designer’s aesthetic, the looks her models rocked as they skated were as cool as ice.
