This February I am most inspired by those individuals who heed Henry David Thoreau’s advice on a daily basis: “Do what you love.” Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday because it is an acknowledgement that love ought to be celebrated. While many associate the day with romantic love, I can think of no better time to search one’s soul and discover or unearth a dormant passion, then boldly pursue it.

To do what one loves on a daily basis is the ultimate Valentine, and here is my toast to the New Yorker scenes which best captured this spirit: The Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Awards, Douglas Hannant’s Celebration of the New Decade, and the premiere of Fay Ann Lee’s romantic comedy Falling for Grace at the Asia Society.
