Edit Woos:
Elise Overland and Jennifer Pastore

And although still in his 20s with a penchant for Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream, the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalist still believes in creating classic, timeless pieces such as pencil skirts and party frocks, but with a nod to modernism by way of clean lines and geometric shapes. “You can never go wrong with the quality over quantity adage,” he advises seriously. True to form, Wu’s pieces will stand the test of time as they stay clear of trends and tend towards detailed tailoring and beautiful fabrics. Understated, and very Wu.
But what I love best about Edit is the ability to score a delicious Jason Wu dress and a killer Erickson Beamon necklace and then rock it all out with an Elise Overland leather jacket -- with both designers present – and without having to run from uptown to downtown and back uptown again. It’s all there, and Alissa and Valerie feel like girlfriends as they assist and chat, while my dog Harold freely runs up the store’s dramatic staircase. Serious clothing and flawlessly edited lines, yet not without an appreciation for whimsy and indie labels. Yes, Jason Wu – the man and the line – are a perfect fit here. The Edit girls know this is the Upper East Side, but they’re not about to let districts dictate merchandise. Alissa and Valerie are boldly editing the stereotype and bringing their customers the best of fashion. The wooing is complete, and we are utterly seduced. |
