Bar Italia
Bar Italia is the ultimate “perfect date” spot. The predominantly white space feels open and breezy, and most of the little tables on the patio are meant for two. The staff is both friendly and respectful; they will never rush you. Mixed drinks are uncommonly good here, and they just might serve the best mojito in town. If conversation is flowing over cocktails, request a menu and sample the delicious Italian fare that is served up till midnight. The staff is accommodating whether you simply decide to share the bruschetta over another drink, or decide to order their heavenly pasta dishes three hours later. In the evenings the lights are dimmed and the music is louder, and if you’re lucky the bartender might suddenly, on a whim, decide to do a scene straight out of “Cocktail.” It’s a piece of Italy on the Upper East Side, and love, like dining, is never to be rushed or disturbed.
