Spring F-Yves-er: A YSL Retrospective

All hail fashion royalty! Known for his art-inspired designs and empowered feminine aesthetic, couturier Yves Saint Laurent is being honored in Paris this spring.  Today, the largest-ever YSL retrospective opens at the Petit Palais.  Featuring over 300 original designs in addition to models, drawings, and documents, the exhibition traces Saint Laurent’s career from its start in 1958 under Christian Dior to his final haute couture collection in 2002.  The exhibit showcases the films, art, literature, and music that inspired Saint Laurent and emphasize the reciprocal influences he had on culture.

A visit to the Petit Palais will remind you that many of today’s staples–safari jackets, fine-art prints, trapeze dresses, and women’s tuxedos–began with Saint Laurent’s innovations.  This spring, give your wardrobe the royal treatment! After all, as the King of Couture himself once famously said, “Fashions fade. Style is eternal.”
