Mary Katrantzou teams up with Longchamp

Longchamp’s iconic Pliage bag gets a brand new makeover for the season, just in time before the fashion weeks hit. The London-based and emerging talent winner at the British Fashion Awards in November 2011, Mary Katrantzou has more to offer to her beloved clients than printed frocks. She recently teamed up with Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s creative director to design a capsule collection of handbags capturing the essence of her signature motifs for spring.

The inspiration behind the collection presents a very “East Meets West” flair by featuring Vietnamese temples and beautiful flower bouquets. In an interview, Mary reveals: ‘I started doing a lot of research and looking at temples from Vietnam and all the flower parades that they do and also what “West” would mean within this bag. So to me, “West” was a stark, modern museum set-up.’

Sporting Mary’s designs on totes seems to be the perfect compromise in gently introducing bold prints to a plain wardrobe. The collection will hit the stores only in March, but worry not, for the most impatient ladies, the pre-launch is now sold exclusively at the renowned Parisian store Colette and on its e-commerce since January 23^rd.
