HANDBAGS OF FRENCH CHARM

Tis true that many of us covet that Parisian ‘je ne sais quoi‘ when it comes to style — the way French women seem to be effortlessly pulled together, right down to the scarf near-haphazardly looped around their long necks.  And now, a touch of that charm is suddenly within arm’s reach — literally — with the opening of the Jerome Dreyfuss boutique at 473 Broome Street.

Hailed as one of Parisian women’s favorite handbag designers, the Jerome Dreyfuss collection is at once ladylike and edgy.  The new retail space, originally a 19th century fur shop for men, retains its sense of Old World charm, plus its function is two-fold:  one part shopping experience and another part art exhibition.

Dreyfuss built a wood cabin in the middle of the store to house his lust-worthy satchels and turned the industrial space surrounding the cabin into a kind of pop-up art gallery.  Designed with a modernist, rustic feel that captures the essence of Jerome, his carryalls have found a happy home.  Hopefully, those same beautiful handbags can find an even happier home on one of our French-with-envy shoulders.  PinkMemo says Oui, Oui!
