Celebrity Stylist Kate Young INC EDITOR AT LARGE for Spring/Summer 2012, Exclusively at Macy’s

Manhattan’s fashion elite, including Chrissy Teigen, Lydia Hearst-Shaw, Harley Viera-Newton, Fabiola Beracasa and Arden Wohl, ascended to the top of The Standard Hotel’s Le Bain for an exclusive celebration of the latest INC EDITOR AT LARGE campaign with celebrity stylist, Kate Young.

Up on 18^th floor, the fashion flock mixed and mingled, sipping Champagne while chic models sashayed about in Kate’s faves  for the spring season. It Girl, Hannah Bronfman had everyone in the mood with her guest DJ set as guests took notice of the trend-savvy collection comprised of tribal prints, tie-dye and ‘60s influences. Kate, whose favorite INC looks contrast feminine and masculine has the downtown cool you would expect, with her platinum locks and all-black INC ensemble.

Following the success of Anna Dello Russo for the premiere of the Editor at Large campaign last season, INC tapped Kate Young, named one of “Hollywood’s Most Powerful Stylists” by The Hollywood Reporter, lending her trademark “edgy and sweet” aesthetic and glowing red-carpet credentials to edit and style the collection.  Kate’s accomplished career in the fashion industry ranges from styling A-List celebrity clients such as Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Alicia Keys, to editing fashion pages for top publications such as Vogue, Interview and InStyle.

I had the opportunity ask a few questions about her inspiration for the collection and how her experience as a celebrity/fashion stylist influenced her direction for INC.

How has your experience as a celebrity stylist shaped your choices for INC?

Despite appearances celebrities are real people! They’re not tall and flat like models, sometimes they need to wear a bra, they have parts of their bodies they like and parts that they don’t. I think it’s helped me to understand clothes for real women in a way I didn’t when I worked at a magazine only

If you were to choose two or three “must-haves” for spring, what would they be?

A great sparkly flat shoe, an easy fun dress and something printed

How do you define L.A. fashion vs. NYC fashion, and how did this influence your choices for INC?

In New York people never want to look like they’ve tried to hard – which isn’t an issue in L.A. I think that as a result NY is a little more elegant and reserved and L.A. is a little more fun and trend driven. I live in NY – but I LOVE to shop in L.A. and I love seeing what L.A. people wear – it’s totally inspiring to me.
