Marni Moves In

This month, the master behind Marni brings her artistic accoutrements uptown. Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni has opened the doors of her new digs on East 67th street, and it’s sure to be a substantial sartorial site. The 2,500-square-foot, two-level space is the second Manhattan location for the Milan-based label and boasts a light-filled, industrial interior perfect for showcasing the marvelousness that is Marni.

The new shop will bring forth a variation in merchandise in order to complement rather than compete with the SoHo location, with a special capsule collection to be presented only in the uptown store including dresses, jewelry, and shoes. With price points at thirty percent lower than the core Marni line, the Summer Edition 2009 capsule collection also features fabulous blouses and jackets for the perfect manifestation of Milanese, if you please.

These keepers-of-shop just don’t stop. After opening their Nolita boutique to wide acclaim last fall, Inven.tory owners Kat Berkery, Mike Townsend, and Whitney Singer now bring forth the same concept on a much grander scale. The new warehouse-sized space in Soho offers wholesale prices on emerging and designer brands, which are rotated frequently as Berkery, Townsend, and Singer energetically employ their prêt-a-porter pool of industry and wholesale biz connections.

The idea came as the threesome realized the popularity of pop-up sample and overstock sales and subsequently implemented the concept in boutique form. Frequently alternating the brands they bringeth with a luxe list that has previously included Staerk, Imitation of Christ, and VPL, among other outstanding offerings, the owners cite ‘relevant’ and ‘on-trend’ as apt descriptions of the stock at Inven.tory. Good glory.
