06.30.2010 | I spent yesterday morning with Tommy Hilfiger at his stunning Fifth Avenue flagship, chatting about Americana style for CBS News. I've met Tommy before, but there was something about him -- beyond his crisp khakis, trim navy blazer, gingham shirt and bandana pocket square -- that rendered me awestruck. Sure he's a wildly successful designer, but this man has "It." He's eloquent, whip-smart and possesses an uncanny knowledge of pop culture. And, just WAIT till you see Fall -- yes, the collection that brought the house down as the final show at Bryant Park (Peter Som consulted on the collection and is doing the same for Spring '11). Leave it to Tommy to make me drool over the idea of a camel cashmere coat in the middle of a NYC heatwave. Meantime, I stocked up on all things red, white and blue. How better to celebrate our independence than decked out in American sportswear, from the man who does it best?
