produce a collection defined by sharp tailoring, geometric embroidered patterns and beautifully delicate fabrics. His recent collections have employed a women’s rights organization from Afghanistan called Afghan Hands to hand-stitch all the embroidery. Emilio de la Morena, Spain
Celebrity fans of de la Morena’s silk cocktail dresses and party frocks include Kate Moss and Leighton Meester. Like Coco Chanel, he rarely draws his designs, but works by draping straight onto a mannequin. His first collection was immediately bought up by fashion-forward London boutique Browns Focus. "The silhouette is very strong, with volume on the upper body, and super-fitted dresses,” he said of that collection. “[It is] full of ornamentation and detail - painted metal and geometric shapes that contour the body.... Emilio de la Morena's woman is super-strong, sexy, sculptural and chic." Earlier this year he created a capsule collection of four cocktail dresses exclusively for Net-a-porter.com, which sold out swiftly. He was praised by Holli Rogers, the retailer’s buying director for creating “softly sculptural and feminine styles” and dresses that will hold a “valued place in your wardrobe for years to come."

No matter from what continent, the next crop of fashion talent draws aesthetic inspiration from cultures that couldn’t be more diverse. Yet, here, they come to live under one national identity, making America a true fashion melting pot.
