experience is as important as the outcome. I love a minimalist theme – black, white, shades of gray – and lots of open space because I want the client to feel as if they are the focus of attention. The fabrics and furniture are meant to make a woman feel as if she is at home, and not a salon. Comfort and calm are important. Soothing. If you enjoy the experience, you want to come back. Why can’t getting one’s hair cut or colored be as soothing a experience as going to a spa?

Vices?
Ha! I am generally very healthy – I try to eat well and exercise. But I do love chocolate. Chocolate flavored whiskey, also. Never in excess, but a little here and there I do enjoy!

Style Advice?
Don’t copy what’s trendy, or your favorite celebrity. When I cut, the scissors are like a natural prongation of my hand, and I am following the lines of your hair. Geometric cuts don’t accentuate inner beauty. Before a cut there should always be a conversation with your stylist.

Recommended treatments?
The Shu Emura Art of Hair ceremony is incredibly nourishing. Kerastase’s Chronologist is a miracle treatment. Of course I love L'Oréal’s INOA Professional Colour System; it’s ammonia free, odorless, covers gray, and lifts color remarkably. For clients who have always experienced discomfort when getting their hair colored, it’s the most remarkable breakthrough in hair care. I find innovation like this so exciting, and I love being able to offer it in my salon.
