As nights stretch longer, New York City begins its annual transformation into a metropolis Riviera. Cafés spill onto the sidewalks – the new coastline – and the chic chicks are rocking Elise Øverland frocks in palettes of nude and black. Her Summer 2010 line captures the joie de vivre and the edge of Manhattan and has all the uptown and downtown girls strapping on their party shoes. |

What’s your favorite piece in the collection? I love the Burn Out Dot print dress for summer. It can be dressed up or down – it’s extremely versatile.
Inspiration for designs? I like to design clothes that my girlfriends and I would want to wear when we go out at night. I like sexy and form fitting pieces – like leather leggings – but then I’ll pair them with something feminine and unexpected, like a nude chiffon blouse. My clothes have a downtown, rock and roll vibe, but I’m excited to be selling at uptown boutique Edit. I do not think rock and roll is confined to downtown, nor is leather confined to cold weather. I am inspired by a woman who finds clothes exciting.
