How they talk and what makes them laugh, and they develop from thereā¦I just keep working on them till they feel real.

Tell us about your books! In my 20s, I read a lot. [But] whenever I picked up a modern chick-lit book, I usually (not always) found the characters desperately drippy and/or depressingly suburban. [So I decided to solve it]...all because I wanted to write the kind of books I couldn't find.
What are your feelings about chick lit? Let's face it: most - not all but most - chick lit is full of stereotypes...but I was tired of reading about lonely, insecure girls who didn't have social lives, didn't laugh very much, and didn't feel real. So I try to write funny books about cool, confident, smart, sharp city girls who have a lot of attitude and humor, but perhaps bad luck with men, who are kind
