Di Petroff:
“As a child I never missed an episode of ‘Style’ with Elsa Klensch.”

Growing up in Ohio, Di Petroff was in love with all things fashion, and she arrived in the Big Apple starry-eyed. She assisted and learned from legendary magazine editor Art Cooper, working her way toward becoming a successful businesswoman in her own right. As co-founder of BRANDSTYLE Communications, a lifestyle PR and marketing firm, she maintains a client list that includes Asprey, StyledOn, Lilly Pulitzer, Mercedes-Benz, and Gramercy Starck. She ’s also married and recently became the mother of a beautiful baby boy. We applaud Di Petroff for doing it all without an air of pretension and for infusing the fashion world with that age-old hard-work-and-persistence American spirit.

What are your earliest memories of loving fashion? Growing up in Cleveland, as the daughter of two doctors, I still wonder how it happened. I knew I did not want to go into medicine, and I also knew that every Saturday—whether I was at a friend’s house on a sleepover or at home—I would be in front of the television at 10:30 in the morning watching “Style” with Elsa Klensch. I followed it religiously. And, of course, Cindy Crawford’s “House of Style” on MTV. I just couldn’t get enough of it.
