This season has been a study in contradictions. While some designers fully embraced a return to minimalist aesthetics, others said “no” to simplicity and gave a stern salute to the over-the-top grandeur of decades past. We caught five members of PinkMemo’s troops post-New York Fashion Week to find out what shows they enjoyed most, and while some fell in love with the perfectly poetic palettes and soft draping of Prabal Gurung and Ports 1961’s pretty spring collections, others were taken with the nostalgic beauty of Oscar de la Renta’s ‘50s prom looks, or the hush-hush secrecy of Tom Ford’s indulgent return to womenswear. Some couldn’t make up their minds, finding themselves attracted to the mix-and-match variety of Jill Stuart’s ladylike looks. Whatever tune you’re marching to, there’s a trend for you.
