DALLAS | STYLE | 11.01.2010 | Nadia Dabbakeh.   The words “cold weather style” don’t sound luxe—or stylish, for that matter—but with PinkMemo’s suggestions and tips from five designers whose aesthetic is defined by the way they mix street-wise wearability with luxurious touches, you’ll be toasty and chic as the mercury makes its downward move.

From minimalist to maximalist, militaristic to retro ladylike, this is a time when fashion far surpasses any exact style rules.

 

“We are surviving in a time where opposite extremes co-exist in fashion simultaneously,” said style and trend authority David Wolfe of the Doneger Group. “There is no longer a fashion dictatorship—wear what you want!”

And while one must agree with the talented Mr. Wolfe, you can’t argue with the esoteric fashion powers that be. For instance, when we asked Chris Benz, Trina Turk, Thuy Diep, Elise Øverland, and Lela Rose—five very different designers—for their tips on looking luxe once the Winter hits, we got some very similar answers…
