“There was a lack of colorful candy books,” she says of her newest venture. “There were a lot of recipe books on candy, but nothing that really showed the way I felt I see candy, and I wanted a kind of Pop art book that would show how to decorate and entertain for every holiday with candy. I thought this would be a useful tool for the people that kept calling us, or contacting us on our website, or just couldn’t get to the store—now they can just get the book!”

But before the book came the idea—why candy? Lauren admits that candy infiltrates every part of her life (a super-sweet tidbit she dished: her fiancé, Paul Arrouet, proposed to her on the beach with dozens of pink roses and “You are my ‘It’ girl” spelled out in candy), and she had yet to see a candy venture that was both whimsical and stylish.

Hence was born Dylan’s Candy Bar, the first name to “keep it personal,” and “Candy Bar” because of the candy cocktails, chocolate martinis, and all-around adult allure this particular confectionary boasts.

With holiday invites aplenty, though, we wanted tips of the trade from this hostess—the more sugarcoated the better in our book (and hers!).
