Move
over New York
City because
London's calling.
Known for
its fashion
universities,
young success
stories and
hip urban
vibe, London—the
city that
gave us Galliano,
McQueen and
Stella McCartney,
to name a
few has unleashed
a crop of
young designers
destined for
the big time.
Ripe with
an individual
style that's
both edgy
and eclectic,
each of these
five British
labels stands
out as a result
of the techniques,
philosophies
and styles
in which they've
been created. |

Erdem:
Erdem
Moralioglu,
a designer
noted
for
his
accordion
pleating
and
romantic
shapes,
cultivated
his
aesthetic
while
working
for
Diane
von
Furstenberg.
An admirer
of PBS's
Merchant
Ivory
Films,
Moralioglu
gleans
a sense
of the
feminine
proportion
while
drawing
upon
the
whimsical
prints
and
patterns
of history
in each
of his
collections.
For
Fall
2007
he’s
celebrating
both
the
short
and
the
sweet,
literally,
as he
heralds
the
return
of the
dress.

Jonathan
Saunders:
One
of the
more
established
names
on the
London
catwalk,
Saunder's
ability
to create
bold,
sophisticated
prints
and
styles
has
set
him
apart
from
the
fashion
pack.
Proving
his
eye
extends
far
beyond
the
figure,
he begins
with
the
textile
and
ends
with
a coordinating
shape
and
design.
His
stellar
fall
2007
collection
includes
slim,
eye-catching,
graphic
productions,
which
resemble
a very
modern
and
bright
vintage
Pucci.
Available
at Neiman
Marcus.

Jonathan
Kelsey:
Every
girl
loves
a great
pair
of shoes
and
that's
what
Kelsey's
delivering
via
bold
metallics
and
sleek
angles.
Originally
a womenswear
grad
from
Central
Saint
Martin’s,
Kelsey
later
decided
to venture
the
shoe
route
when
he was
accepted
into
the
Royal
College
of Art's
premiere
shoe
design
program.
After
coupling
his
studies
with
a job
at Jimmy
Choo,
Kelsey
launched
his
own
line,
which
is stacked,
sexy
and
sophisticated
to say
the
least.

Avenue.

Jenny
Dyer:
After
spotting
a gap
in the
day-to-evening
dress
market,
Dyer
decided
to design
a line
of flirty
shirtdresses.
The
result?
Easy
to wear,
accessible
pieces
that
work
perfectly
for
both
work
and
play.
Taking
inspiration
from
Catherine
Deneuve
and
the
French
starlets
of the
1970s,
her
collections
pay
homage
to today’s
modern
woman
via
simple,
sleek
silhouettes
and
wearable
cuts.
For
Fall
2007
she
looks
to the
classics
with
chic
dresses
named
for
two
glitterati
destinations:
Hollywood
and
Aspen.
Available
at Searle,
New

City.
