Elizabeth Taylor, fashion icon and jewelry enthusiast has said, “I adore wearing gems, but not because they are mine. You can't possess radiance, you can only admire it.”  Radiance aside, jewelry has developed into a booming force on the accessory scene, coveted by the world’s most stylish and sensible women. Art for the eyes and body, the intricately designed, ornamental pieces that make up the newest spectrum of costume labels (the most coveted form of jewelry right now) are being molded into powerful statements season after season.

Today, designs reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s—when big and bold were best—evolve into contemporary offerings with oversized cocktail rings, dazzling tiered necklaces and brilliantly hued brooches. Enter in TOUS, the newest soon-to-be-member on the Dallas shopping scene, and the options get even more alluring.

For over 80 years, the Barcelona-based TOUS has elicited murmurs of oohing and ahhing with their coveted, elegant baubles. Known for their identifiable approach to accessories and design—they create over 30 annual collections in both semi-precious stones and alluring metals, along with fashion, handbag and home décor lines—the company, which is set to open their first store in early November, will bring standout pieces to the fashionable Dallas mainstream.

Family owned and run TOUS was originally built around watches, when owners Salvador Tous Blavi and his wife Teresa Ponsa Mas opened a small workshop in the early 1920s. It was through years of development that the company progressed into the international force it is today, with over 305 stores in a variety of countries.

Recognized for their symbolic Teddy (which Rosa Tous introduced to the company in the 1960s), rich tones, fine materials and celebrity status, TOUS mingles fanciful details with superior techniques and tonality.

Based on the concept of embracing fashion’s trendier elements of color, set and size, each collection is geared towards the different moments in life—from the youthful exuberance and vigorous enthusiasms of the young to the more mature thoughtfulness and elegant dimensions of the old.

Change and forward movement are just a few of the virtues that TOUS values, and this is especially evident in their choice of Australian pop bombshell Kylie Minogue as current spokes model. When asked about the choice, Creative Director Rosa Tous admits that it was Minogue’s strength and determination that first drew them to her. By bottling this irrevocable style and energy along with her chic and sophisticated glamour, TOUS created one of its current lines, Life is Music, around Minogue.

Putting Teddy into a modern rocker role has allowed the company to explore a fun and fashionable style complete with yellow and white gold, silver and diamonds.

With Minogue’s help, TOUS is set to make even more waves. Maintaining a distinct and important heritage means their forages into fashionable waters will consistently carry a unique and iconic feel. After all, their classic pieces are meant for a changing lifestyle and that, says TOUS, is what today’s women needs.
