My favorite place to shop on vacation is Blue Tree in NYC. The storeowner, Phoebe Cates Kline, has an eye for the truly unique. She has these amazing custom-made acrylic boxes that literally look like a piece of artwork. They have hand carved designs and are dyed in amazing pinks, yellows, and greens. They make great gifts... and apparently the locals think so too! Every time I visit she has new pieces. On top of that, Phoebe carries my jewelry line and I love to go in and visit with her when I am in town.
PinkMemo Pop-Up: Yes, as in the actress Phoebe Cates. Whether or not you’re a fan of Fast Times At Ridgemont High or know who Mr. Hand is, Blue Tree is still the perfect place to go for the unique. You’’ll find an eclectic mix of jewelry, housewares, men and women’s clothing, and more -- this fun little store with the big blue door is worth the trip. Check out the signature candle: Originally meant for in-store use only, customers loved the soy-based blend of tuberose, carnation, gaiic wood, and clove so much, Kline started producing it.
