Fashion at the Park

Alpha Chi Couture
The fashionably focused SMU Alpha Chi Omega chapter and area alumna will host the third annual Alpha Chi Couture fashion show benefiting the Genesis Women’s Shelter and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation on October 3 at City Place’s Atrium. Attendees will hear from special guests, including Kristen Howell, director of development at Genesis Women’s Shelter, and the event’s honorary chair Donna Chereck, Alpha Chi Omega’s past National president. Jan Strimple, one of high fashion’s most glamorous runway models, will be the evening’s guest host. In addition to a fashion show featuring clothing from LFT in Victory Park, a silent auction and cocktail hour will kick off the fabulous festivities.

Bid for the Cure
NorthPark Center and Susan G. Komen For the Cure - Dallas County, proudly present the first annual Bid for the Cure, a premiere silent auction event to help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Participating NorthPark retailers will display their auction items in a designated area within their store, complete with silent auction ballots. Local representatives from Komen Dallas will contact winners with the highest bid during the week of October 20th-October 24th. All proceeds will benefit the Dallas County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Saks Fifth Avenue Presents Key to the Cure
Saks is primed and ready to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its weekend-long shopping event. Featuring T-shirts designed by the Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld for a mere $40 each, with over $35 of the purchase price going to the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund. Additionally, a percentage of Saks sales will benefit cancer charities and Baylor Health Care systems.

Dallas Fashion Awards
The Fashion Group International of Dallas and Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA) will present the divine and fabulous annual 33rd Dallas Fashion Awards on October 25th at Dallas Market Center. The Dallas Fashion Awards is the oldest retailer-chosen awards program in the nation. Since 1976 the Awards have recognized "superior design innovation, quality workmanship and retail performance." Winners in ten categories are announced "Academy Awards style" during the gala, featuring special awards such as the Fashion Excellence Award and Rising Star Award. With cocktails at 6:30 p.m. to be followed by a most divine dinner. Attire is black tie and tickets may be purchased individually for $135 with tables of eight for $1000.

FIG – Moulin Rouge Masquerade
The Fashion Industry Gallery (FIG) is set to celebrate Halloween in high style with a stylishly spooky gala evening on October 31, 2008. With live music by legendary band Emerald City and a custom-designed haunted entryway, Moulin Rouge Masquerade is the only Halloween night event of its kind in Dallas and promises to attract a stellar crowd of costumed celebrants.
The FIG Haunted House at the entrance to the event will welcome guests with a fun and creative fright including major effects and fearsome twists and turns. Inside guests will find the super sounds of Emerald City, whimsical Moulin Rouge décor, and a variety of cocktails and heavy hors d‘oeuvres. Three VIP lounges will provide exclusive furnishings in a themed environment with costumed servers, and a special section for premium ticket holders will offer private cocktail service. The evening’s costume contest will reward prizes including a stay at the newly renovated Stoneleigh Hotel and Spa and a trip for two to Cancun, Mexico.
Tickets to the Moulin Rouge Masquerade start at $115 for general admission and are available at www.fashionindustrygallery.com (fees apply). Tickets may also be purchased in advance by calling 214.748.4344 ext. 323 or on the night of the event at the door as available. A limited number of premium tickets will be sold. The three exclusive VIP lounges will each accommodate private parties of up to 30 guests.

Promenade of Style: The Caralee Biery Smith Collection
This fall, the Texas Fashion Collection will proudly present Promenade of Style, a rare opportunity to peek inside the closet of Caralee Smith, a Texas native and lifelong collector of vintage clothing. An interest in fashion history led Smith to seek out examples of 19th century women’s clothing and accessories. The exhibition will showcase an array of Smith’s most carefully selected treasures from the 1830’s-1890’s, and Smith will personally appear as part of the educational program that will benefit the Texas Fashion Collection’s newly established acquisition fund.
