Though ‘tis questionable whether weather truly permits the rich fabrics and covered design of fall fashion collections to be worn the moment they hit the racks, it’s also quite true that Dallas women have a certain charm that allows them to write their own rules. Though we mix our chic poolside attire with our fall desires during the late summer months, we truly anticipate all of the autumn events, which will allow us to go caftan by day and cashmere by night. This resembles the mix of July and August events leading up to the new season. Through Abi Ferrin’s PinkMemo Fashion Dish fall preview, The Drink & Deal event hosted by PinkMemo at Hotel ZaZa, a V.O.D. and SARTEL trunk show party, hotel openings, and more, tasteful transitions from summer to fall were elegantly exemplified.

At our favored CRAFT restaurant at the W Dallas - Victory, PinkMemo’s highly anticipated July Fashion Dish featuring local Dallas-based designer Abi Ferrin, presented sophisticated silks and praiseful prints that left us foraging feverishly towards the new season. An award-winning designer, Ferrin kept us fixated on her bold designs with a figure-flattering collection in a stunning rainbow of hues including cobalt, magenta, and a spirited emerald green. She most assuredly left us seeing the world in a multitude of new and captivating colors. With guests including the likes of: Ana Pettus, Renee Rouleau, Carol Riddick, Shelly Rosenberg, and Abi Erickson, Ferrin herself demonstrated the five different ways to wear her popular “Nikki Top,” quite the practical piece that fellow guests gushed would be most perfect when packing for tropical travels and weekend getaways. Furthermore, Ferrin presented some of the same ensembles she will be touting this September during New York’s Fashion Week at Style360. Yes, for these guests, CRAFT was quite the room with a view. Dedicating her fall collection to women of purpose, Ferrin demonstrably works for the love of fashion and to improve conditions for females all around the globe. With new and dedicated design talent like Abi Ferrin, the future of fashion certainly looks bright.

‘Twas a modern day bazaar when on July 28th, the Hotel ZaZa Ballroom was spinning with swank shoppers and the snappiest of sales as PinkMemo presented Drink & Deal Tuesday at one of Dallas’ hautest hotels. With the premise, “you name the price you want to pay and make a deal,” this event certainly beautified the often banality of bargain shopping. The smart gathering of zestful guests shopped summer styles from local boutique favorites including: Kacky & Carl, L.Bartlett, Linus Lounge, Melanie Gayle, Betty Cupcake, and MINE. It was a pairing worthy of applause and guests like: Evelyn and Jacque Silverman, Kate Hall, Astyn Davis, and Julie VanTassel, had the opportunity to meet and greet boutique owners, while purchasing the savviest of styles. Naming the price you want to pay for a fantastic piece with a fizzy cocktail in hand? Make a pact now, not to miss the next event!

On a Wednesday in July, presented with the looming uncertainty of rain, V.O.D. & SARTEL moved their posh party from poolside to penthouse at the Joule Hotel. A delightful decision with guests including: Betty Reiter, Capera Ryan, James Cope, Leah McCann, Lydia Johnston, Shadia Awwad, and Whitney Sulak, certainly didn’t dispute as they sipped their freshly muddled mojitos courtesy of BACARDI. Matthew Earnest of SARTEL and Jackie Bolin of V.O.D., were there to present their guide to pool deck chic a la trunk show with a collection of limited-edition caftans and keenly chosen bikinis and beachwear. Hosted by Courtney Tennison and the Joule Hotel, the gathering was quite the fête with its outstanding views and the most glamorous of guests. Tennison best summed up the fashion label and boutique’s co-event success, “The event collaboration between SARTEL and V.O.D. came naturally, they are not only friends but they have similar tastes in style and design as well as similar clientele.” The cocktail party certainly reaffirmed the truest requisite of poolside relaxation: stylish lounge attire doesn’t have to sacrifice the comfortable. And the caftans, paired with the right accessories, can carry you quite chicly into fall.

With a catchy name like NYLO, one can instantly assume that the hotel may have something innovatively interesting to share. The third-location of the new energy-efficient hotel chain opened its doors in Las Colinas on July 14th with a morning ribbon cutting ceremony. It was not too early for guests to sip champagne as they toured the new environmentally conscious boutique-style hotel. As several guests commented on the lavish bedding and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, the interior’s lofty stark industrial design certainly did not seem to sacrifice amenities, why, NYLO just may be the new and perfect excuse to plan that fall staycation?
