If the Fall social season accurately teased us with a taste of holiday parties to come, it is undoubtedly going to be one deliciously haute winter. September and October came and went with bliss and buzz, much like the all-too-short duration of the Partners Card shopping window. The best of the season’s collections were shopped and celebrated, with some of the city’s leading dames revered. There were some truly rocking charity events, plus we received a taste of New York with visits from designers Keith Lissner, Tory Burch, and Christian Siriano. Tibi’s Amy Smilovic also touched down in Dallas for a colorful fashion show. “Affairs to remember” is an understatement.

On September 30th, Fall Fashion Dish kicked off at Craft with New York demi-couturier, Keith Lissner. Lissner presented his Fall collection and an extra-sweet peek into Spring with his edgy take on tulle and lace. PinkMemo’s Editor-in-Chief, Katrina Szish, flew in from The Big Apple for Lissner’s Dallas debut. Much applause was garnered for a bold red cocktail dress, and guests including Nancy Dedman, Christen Wilson, Elizabeth Showers, Jan Showers, and Stephanie Quadri seemed quite charmed. The designer’s perfectionist approach to couture was exemplified as he personally took the measurements of guest Andrea Weber, proving that with Lissner it’s all in the details.

On Friday, Oct. 9th, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society kicked off their 26th Annual Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show at the stunning home of the evening’s underwriters Denise and Larry Wolford. Guests included co-chairs Rainy Fogiel and her daughter Natalie Fogiel, Crawford Brock and his wife Janet, Alicia Landry, Nancy Rogers, Gigi Potter, Robbie Briggs, Dee Dee and Jim Lee, and Jan Strimple. Later that night, Les Femmes du Monde celebrated the Woman of the Year Award 2009 honoring Yvonne Crum for her volunteer efforts in the Dallas community at a ceremony in the Rosewood Crescent Hotel with proceeds benefiting the World Affairs Council and the Children’s Medical Center Dallas Child Life program. Ebby Halliday serenaded Crum on her ukulele with personalized lyrics, much to the delight of guests including: Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and his wife Laura, John Clutts, Niven Morgan, Tiffany Divis, Bob and Barbara Daseke, Sue Prather, and Ruth Buzzi.

The Tory Burch Fashion Dish event at the W Dallas – Victory on October 21st, featured the Fall and Holiday 2009 collections and left us lusting for the glitz and glam of the holiday season. With beautiful cropped jackets and jeweled detailing, Tory Burch head buyer Cindy Castillo presented a collection with some seriously gilded panache. As guests Maura Bradshaw, Josey Collins, Phyllis Comu, Kari Schlegel, Zoie Liotta, Kate Hall, and Joani White indulged in a divine lunch from Craft, they made mental notes of the pieces they planned to add to their wardrobes. Each lady who lunched left with a trademark Tory cosmetic bag, though some departed with almost too many treats to carry.

Speaking of treats, on Friday, October 16th, Tibi designer Amy Smilovic staged a fashion show at Stanley Korshak, with a runway rife with bright pieces that left us eagerly anticipating the brilliant colors of the warmer seasons to come. The sun continued to shine – at least in our mind’s eye – at the Ilori store opening at NorthPark, which had most of the SHOOT-ready attendees sampling shades and sipping champagne on the rainy evening of October 21st. The event was co-hosted by Nancy Rogers, and celebrity stylist Jennifer Rade was present to assist guests such as Gigi Howard, Mark Barrett, Leesa Smith, Sharon Seagraves, Todd Betanzos, and Molly Nolan find their perfect pair. “I’m a believer in less is more” Rade advised. “Pick one piece as your statement, which can change the entire tone of an outfit.” Sound advice, as Ilori looks to be the new local staple for scoring some serious shades.

It was a night of Gavin and Graffiti for guests attending the First Look reception, which benefited 2x2 for AIDS & ART. Hosted by Howard and Cindy Rachofsky at the Rachofsky House, the night’s theme, Music x Fashion presented by The Joule hotel was co-hosted by Steve and Lucy Wrubel and John and Jenny Kirtland. With luxury cocktails presented by Belvedere, guests Kenny Goss, Joyce Goss, Courtney Tennison, Carl Sewell, and Filippo Tattoni-Marcozzi enjoyed a fashion show featuring Christian Siriano’s Spring 2010 collection presented by Forty-Five-Ten and live outdoor music by Mr. Gwen Stefani himself, Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale.
