F.I.G. on April 8th. On February 20th in the Hilton Anatole’s Chantilly Ballroom, the Junior League of Dallas hosted Rock the Stars, its annual ball, which featured artist Rick Springfield, whose vivacious (and chest-baring) performance of “Jessie’s Girl” was of course the crowd favorite. A black-tie event and auction, guests rarely left the dance floor in their floor-length or sparkling cocktail gowns unless it was to mingle on stage with Rick.

An equally shining stage was that of the House of Blues on February 17th, with the American Red Cross- Dallas Chapter’s Mardi Gras Masquerade bringing a swinging taste of Nola to Dallas. Over 400 guests including Caroline LaRash, Angela Tristan, Whitney Boone, Rex Womble, Marianne Halphen, Laura Chancellor, and Haley Lemond moved and danced to the soulful sounds of The Briefcase Blues Band in sequined masks and layered beads and enjoyed a New Orleans style buffet that showcased the ultimate array of deep southern comfort food: grits, bread pudding, and all! A stylishly successful event replete with buzzing blackjack tables, the silent auction alone brought in $22,000 to the American Red Cross.

Another outstanding cause for applause was the Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show held on the snowy morning of February 10th at the Hilton Anatole benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and hosted by co-chairs Nancy and Rainey Fogiel and honorary chair Nancy C. Rogers.
