As the summer heat begins its sizzling sweep over the city, the social scene obtains a certain spice. May and June hosted a mélange of haute events, so successfully successive, they kept my schedule blissfully busy. From the sleek designs of David Meister, the flowery flourishes of Loris Diran, to the dashing and delightful looks of SARTEL, it was clear to fashion-followers delight, that PinkMemo was determined to start this stylish summer off right. The David Meister Fall 2009 Dallas Fashion Show, plus two incredible installments of FASHION DISH, a soiree at the Christopher Martin Art Gallery, and additional haute happenings kept us guessing and gushing: what could possibly be better than the last?

Pool deck chic was the toast and feel of the Fall 2009 David Meister reveal. High atop the city on the 16th Floor of the W Dallas - Victory, PinkMemo hosted quite the soiree for Dallas’ appreciative fashion aficionados. The pool deck moved in waves of cocktail dresses colored in summer’s boldest hues. As they mixed and toasted with tall glasses of pink bubbly, glamorous guests anticipated the show, put on by the honorably tasteful Jan Strimple Productions. As the subtle glow of sunset finally faded into the night-ready Dallas skyline, guests including Pamela Martin Duarte, Leesa Smith, Betty Reiter, John Reoch, Renee Rouleau, Kirby Allison, Abi Ferrin, and Lisa Garza, stylishly slinked to their seats for their sneak peak of fall pieces to come from a designer who seems acutely aware of what women want in eveningwear.

Campbell Wagner Runway models took the custom pink runway in sophisticatedly simple cuts revved up by luxe fabrics in rich colors, leaving guests with eye-catching visions that were both delightfully wearable. But, alas, at the end of the show, the gracious designer did not bid us adieu, he mixed and mingled with the admiring audience, a group including the likes of: Lesli Anne Lehman, Joanne Yurich, Stephane Quadri, Chuck Steelman and Ray Lockridge, Ellie Warren, and Cecillia Barron. Meister himself lauded, "It was the perfect setting to showcase the Fall 2009 collection - intimate, elegant and glamorous." To top off la nuit with the perfect sweet treat, Sprinkles gifted guests with a perfectly posh pink cupcake.

On May 20th, PinkMemo’s May installment of FASHION DISH delivered quite the lavish lunch. New York based designer, Loris Diran, exemplified an elegant balance of obliged observer, the appreciated educator, and expressed his inspiration behind several illustrious designs. After an excellently insightful introduction, Diran watched as models swirled the room with some of the standout spring and fall pieces from the Loris Diran Collection. Between delectable bites of the ever-agreeable Craft entrees, guests were certain to sound and voice their approval of the passion-driven pieces. Opportune for fortunate attendees, including: Cindy Rachofsky, Joyce Goss, Jan and Elizabeth Showers, Holly Haber, Jessica Olson, Lexi Hammonds, and Jennifer Gallagher, Diran’s pieces were available for exclusive purchase, a true delight for doting Dallasites.

SARTEL took our breath away at the June 17th installment of FASHION DISH at the W Dallas- Victory’s Craft restaurant. Matthew Earnest and Lily Atherton Hanbury make up the fashionably keen design duo that is SARTEL. Earnest was present to introduce the Fall 2009 Collection. The elegantly anticipatory observers included Terri Provencal, Courtney Sinelli, Jackie Bolin, Kristie Ramirez, and Elizabeth O’Mahoney. Models displayed the new collection, which cleverly combined eye-catching raw edges with luxurious fabrics in an alluring palette of violets, grays, and black. The collection’s coalescence of cool cuts with a bit of equestrian inspiration, left the fashionable attendees confident that with the assistance of SARTEL they’d be riding into fall in style.

Favoring femmes included Courtney Tennison, Kristin Walker and Davicka Thompson. The final swank surprise was guests’ privilege to peruse and purchase the collection right off the racks. From cropped jackets, to removable ruffles, and neat neckties, SARTEL served a dish we’ll be savoring all summer.

PinkMemo and Christopher Martin co-hosted a cocktail event at the Christopher Martin Gallery on May 22nd and brought together an exemplary mix of artful eyes. Fashion-followers and art-adorers came together, mixing and socializing in quite the smart space to make for a truly grand gathering at the Victory Park Lane location. The party gave guests an inspiring glimpse into some of local artist and gallery owner, Christopher Martin’s Abstract works available in the gallery. An evening of artistic splendor, Christopher Martin and his wife Stacy Martin were certainly graced with grateful guests including Shelly Rosenberg, Leslie Pritchard, Bethany and John Siggins, Gina Cortroneo, Stephanie Moore, and the fabulous Carolina Herrera duo Justin Ghirardi and Matthew Minick, to name but a few.

Spring was in the air on April 30th, as ladies who lunch gathered in chic dresses in the purest of pastels and soft florals and brought together quite a fashionable bunch for the annual Chick Lit Luncheon benefiting the Community Partners of Dallas presented by Dr. Robert Tafel at the Brook Hollow Country Club. Guests supporting this fantastic philanthropic cause included the likes of Lara Tafel, Debbie Oates, Lynn McBee, and Meredith Camp. The event commenced with purpose and finished with prose. This year’s guest speaker was the stunning author, supermodel, actress, turned celebrity-host, Paulina Porizkova, who discussed the inspiration and background for her novel, “A Model Summer” and hosted a kick-off party the night before at the ESCADA boutique in Highland Park Village with guests including Melinda Moore Rathke and Paige McDaniel. The luncheon was certainly “a model” for us all and left a smile on many a gracious face.

May was the month to honor thy four legged friends. On May 15th, Fashion Group International hosted “Four Legged Fashion: Canine Meets Couture.” From outfits, to jewelry, to deluxe dog beds, leading labels custom created canine cuts that culminated into fabulous ensembles for the pampered pooch. Delightful participatory designers included: Abi Ferrin, Todd Oldham, Jonathan Kayne, Caroline Carlisle, Sarah Briggs, and HKS Architects.

and Emily Dearden
Products for the pampered pet were auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds donated to FGI and the Four-Legged Fashion grant fund, which benefits local animal rescue organizations.

On May 9th, the East Lake Pet Orphanage held “Wine on the Roof,” a fine evening of splendid food, wine, and a celebratory silent auction and raffle. With a “Project Runway” themed fashion show, pets modeled the latest canine couture by local fashion designers like: Christy Robinson Designs, Texas Tarts, Poisoned Creations, Harrilu, Superchica, and Squid Ink Collective. Proceeds benefited the East Lake Pet Orphanage, a non-profit, no-kill shelter and organization that places dogs, cats, and other animals into permanent and loving homes.

With the social scene just starting to feel the heat, be sure, darling, that you don’t miss a single step. Stay tuned to our SCOOP page, to keep up with the latest PinkMemo events that are picking up with piquancy.
