This month's
Dallas edition

Gloria Godat hosted a chic little soiree at her Turtle Creek apartment for the French Ambassador Jean-David Levitt. His Excellency was in town to preview the Matisse exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Erin Mathews, Doss Alexander, Bill Dillon, Rick Brettell, Pierrette Lacour from the Alliance Francaise, and Matisse curator Dorothy Kosinski turned out to drink champagne and eat tasty tidbits provided by Parigi's.

A few days later, Kathy and Scott Schufford, owners of Dallas Auction Gallery, threw a private cocktail reception for The Fashionistas just so they could be the first in town to view the collection of clothing, jewelry, handbags and furs from the estate of the late Montine Wisdom. Mary Harper, Ann Collier, who sold Montine every piece of Chanel in the auction, Joyce Goss, Joe Pacetti, Elaine Raffel, Kim Kroll, Max Trowbridge and Lawayne Schrader came out to have a look at Montine's fabulous collection. Fashionista board member Chirsten Wilson left the auction the following evening at midnight with a great collection of Chanel bags. I scored a beautiful mink stole and a few shiny baubles.

Time flys when you're going to events. The Lancôme Boutique at NorthPark hosted The Fashionistas Board of Directors for their first meeting of 2007. This is already stacking up to be an exciting year for our favorite non-profit organization. Lancôme is producing a lip color palette called The Fashionista/Lancôme Lips, which will debut on Wednesday, March 6 at the Lancôme Boutique. The fabulous Fashionista board's first order of business was to view the five colors and give their stamp of approval. Alvin Steffey, Joyce Goss, Max Trowbridge, Jessica George, Alonso Martinez, Tayler Sandvick, Robyn Wise, Lawayne Schrader, Fashionista Business Manager Kim Kroll, Guillaume Coutheillas and Jay Billingsley were in attendance. Robyn and Kim indulged in a brow design session while Jessica got the special Lancôme lipstick application lesson. Alonso made sure everyone had a full glass of champagne and charmed the gorgeous girls who work at the boutique. It's a tough board to serve on, but somebody has to do it.

Myra Walker, Curator and Director of the Texas Fashion Collection, has been working on Balenciaga and His Legacy: Haute Couture from the Texas Fashion Collection for five years. The ravishing exhibition opened on Friday, February 2 at the Meadows Museum with a black tie VIP reception sponsored by Modern Luxury. Augstin Balenciaga, Cristobal's grand-nephew, was flown in from Spain and Maggie Eckardt, who was one of Balenciaga's models, came in from Australia - both courtesy of The Fashionistas. The New York Times flew in a photographer to snap some pictures for their Style section, which will appear in a Sunday issue in March. Everyone was decked out in their finest jewels, furs and designer dresses and, I must say, I was impressed. Dallas people seem to get better looking every day. The VIP crowd included the Meadows Museum and The Fashionistas high- level members and boards of directors and Modern Luxury VIPs. A reception for all other members was held the following night. You can visit Balenciaga and His Legacy at the Meadows Museum through May 27.
