BY TIFFANY HALL

February 2009 | Issue Twenty Two
2009’s first stylish string of events proved to be sufficiently substantial. And, in the case of our very own Second Anniversary soirée, highly successful. From the cinema to the gallery, with the W’s Craft-y cuisine and cocktails between; most privileged to be a fine diner wearing finer designer, your scene queen regales with essential details.

‘Twas a chic congregation in the West Village the evening of Thursday, January 8th, as a bevy of belles and beaus gathered at the Magnolia Theatre for the pre-screening of Bride Wars, the new film starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. Kim Schlegel Whitman, Lori Jones, Gigi Howard, Abi Ferrin, and Kari Schlegel each played hostess along with Alexis Maybank and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, the founders of Gilt Groupe, an invitation-only luxury ecommerce store that features fabulous offers of up to 70% off retail on exclusive designers. Appearing especially for the occasion, Manhattan dwellers Maybank and Wilson had gladly deigned to descend upon Dallas, a city they consider to be one of the most modern and luxurious locations in the nation.

FASHION DISH Luncheon at Craft Dallas
The chick-flick charmed with portrayals by Hudson and Hathaway as two battling brides whose weddings are scheduled on the same day, as well as brief moments with funny femmes Candice Bergen and Kristen Johnston. Post-screening, fashionable filmgoers such as Joyce Goss, Deborah Scott, and Jamie O’Banion flocked downtown to the svelte PM Lounge at the glamorous Joule Hotel to enjoy cocktails and cinematic conversation. Quite the lovely ‘Big Day’ soirée. Those desperately seeking stylish steals darted downtown for the Fashion Industry Gallery’s Finale VIP cocktail reception on Thursday, January 15th. ‘FIG-lettes’ Ashley Gage and Emma Greathouse hosted a bevy of bargain-hunters for the bi-annual event, which provides fabulous markdowns on merchandise from area retailers such as Linus Lounge, Elements, Merge, and more. ‘Twas the perfect excuse to linger with libations and load up on discount designer for the new year, dear.

A full day of fashion festivities unfolded at the noon hour on Wednesday, January 21st with the launch of FASHION DISH at Craft Dallas, featuring an exclusive appearance by designer Maria Cornejo for her first-time visit to big D and a trunk show of her latest lust -worthy pieces.
Style arbiters turned out in full force, as Stephanie Quadri, Tracy Hayes, Kristie Ramirez, and Jan Strimple congregated to dish over delectable cuisine whilst mining the mind of Maria and chatting with chic sales rep Estelle Nichols. Fashionable femmes such as Nini Nguyen, Hanh Merriman, Stephanie Roberts, and Nina Knell fawned over Cornejo’s collection of fabulously fresh silhouettes in fine fabrics with exquisite details as V.O.D. darlings Jackie Bolin, Liz Thompson, and Elizabeth O’Mahony graciously aided the ladies in satisfying their ready-to-wear requests. I, for one, ached to add a sumptuous pair of cropped leather pants to my arsenal…all in good time…they shall surely be mine.

The hottest shade for the style brigade? Shall we all say, in sync, ‘tis pink. The fashion flock rocked W – Dallas Victory the evening of the 21st with a proper fete for PinkMemo’s Second Anniversary, as gorgeous guests gathered to schmooze and sip in tandem for two years of the most chic memorandum.

Dallas’s stylish elite came forth in full force as PinkMemo’s celebratory soiree commenced with the W Hotel’s lovely marketing maven Kristin Walker orchestrating the opulence. ‘Twas a most gorgeous grouping of Pink fans, with the likes of Chuck Steelman, Jamie O'Banion, Tayler Carson Sandvick, Matthew Sanchez, Alli Davis, Bret McKinney, Willie Johnson, and Barneys’ dapper chap Jackson, with Maria Cornejo chatting up the crowd, decked out in her own gorgeous design. ‘Twas triumphantly terrifically pink. And a most successful celebratory soirée, we think.
