EmersonMade debuts a New Clothing Line
Posted By | 08.26.2010 | 10:12 AM
EmersonMade started out with a line of signature flower pins, which led to a charming collection of accessories and a huge following among style bloggers and blog readers. Now, Emerson is launching her first-ever clothing line, filled with amazing staple pieces for any girl’s wardrobe. EmersonMade’s new line includes fabulous 1970s-inspired jeans made from premium denim, fitted blazers, feminine blouses, and timeless shift dresses. My favorite piece is the Silk Dots blouse which is at once classic and sexy in the most subtle fashion.

Lusting For Lace
Posted By | 08.25.2010 | 12:42 PM
We’re loving the resurgence of feminine lace, but our favorite way to wear this trend is on our feet. A material usually synonymous with “delicate” or “fragile” in our minds is being redefined by everyone from Christian Louboutin to Valentino, and it’s the prettiest way to add sex appeal to your wardrobe. Now excuse me while I slip (my feet) into a sweet little something…
Alexander McQueen, Giuseppe Zanotti and Stella McCartney put it on a pump, while Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino sweeten up tough boots.

Occhiali Goes Back To School

Dom Does Warhol
Posted By | 08.23.2010 | 01:48 PM
Celebrate Warhol with champagne. Our favorite icon of the Pop Art movement was always seen popping open bottles of Dom Pérignon at Studio 54, and to commemorate his good taste, Pérignon commissioned a reinterpretation of the bottle by the Design Laboratory at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design.

They took Warhol’s use of bold color and slapped red, blue and yellow on the iconic label of a Vintage 2002, which will be available at select wine shops across the country on October 15th.
We can’t wait to “pop” open a bottle.

The Glamorous Life of Gregg Asher
Posted By | 08.20.2010 | 02:26 PM
Resident dandy about Dallas Gregg Asher has elicited envy with his most wondrous wardrobe (Miu Miu, Roland Mouret, Hermes, just to name a few), so when he launched his personal style blog, it instantly became a PinkMemo must read. FashionBaggage.com showcases the glamorous life of Gregg Asher, with his fickle fashion sensibilities and cheeky sense of humor. If you have an appetite for fashion, panache and drama (line dancing in Fendi platforms = devastatingly chic), then Mr. Asher will surely entertain you.
PM: Why did you decide to start a blog, and what time/effort/preparation did it take to get it ready?
GA: It’s been brewing in the back of my head for a long time, and I wanted to do a little reporting on fashion but in a humorous way. And, the main reason is because I want my own TV show! The effort was minimal since I hired a youngster to get it up and running, as I know nothing (I mean nothing) about computers. I read that they’re teaching children in the womb how to use an iPhone.

PM: How did you come up with the name “Fashion Baggage”?
GA: I like the name because it touches on a few things about me. It mentions fashion, which is what the blog is about, and I’m known for carrying bags so hence the baggage portion, but also because baggage here means all things in excess that go along with fashion.
PM: We must ask, where did you take that photo of you with all the Louis Vuitton Luggage?
GA: The picture was taken on my street here in the city, and yes we carted all that luggage out there with all the cars passing by. I’m sure they thought we were crazy. Meanwhile, I had a roll of Charmin tucked under my armpits because it was 108 degrees that day, but it was still great fun.

Gregg Asher wearing a boucle jacket by Roland Mouret, Missoni pants and an Hermes belt in his dressing area.
PM: You obviously enjoy fashion and like to have fun with it, what kind of reactions do you get on a day-to-day basis on your clothing choices?
GA: I choose not to look peripherally, but you can follow me for a day and get back to me.
PM: What are your favorite things for Fall?
GA: The YSL blue pumps with the horse hair, and actually I’m loving anything with fur, and some Fendi leopard t-strap shoes I found in Vegas. I could go on and on.
PM: What fashion fad do you want to be abolished for good?
GA: I hate to say something should go away completely because I’m so damn fickle I might end up buying it a couple of seasons later.

Gregg Asher, making the putt-putt course look good in a striped sleeveless sweater by Jean Paul Gaultier, wide leg trousers by Phillip Lim, an Hermes belt, and Fendi sandals.
PM: Where are your favorite Dallas “hot spots”? Where do you go to brunch, drinks, and dinner?
GA: Barney’s because who eats anyways – wouldn’t you rather shop than eat! But I have been spotted at Toulouse, Hattie’s, and Taco Bell! As for hot spots, they change quicker than I change my underwear so who can keep up?
PM: What is the last thing you bought?
GA: A new car in chocolate brown.
PM: Are you going to Fashion Week come September, and if so, what shows are you looking forward to?
GA: We’ll be there. We always enjoy every show we go to. The shows kinda remind me of a wedding. When the first model walks out like a bride, my eyes start to tear up, and at the close, I wish they could do it again (and for a bride, they may just).
PM: I recently read a comment of yours on the very casual way in which people dress these days for dinner – what do you think is acceptable vs. a big N.O.
GA: I’m a firm believer that anything goes as far as your personal style if you feel comfortable in it. Although I do think there is a time and place for what you wear. The opera, for example, is not a casual place and gone are the days of men wearing jackets for dinner – it’s a shame. Give me a good supper club any day.
PM: If you could be anywhere in the world right now doing anything you want, where would you be and what would you be doing?
GA: I’d be in London trying to hunt down a Vivienne Westwood orb necklace encrusted in rhinestones.
We’d watch your TV show any day Gregg. And as for following you around for a day…would that include a tour of your closet? If so, I’m in.

New Favorite Line: Shakuhachi
Posted By | 08.20.2010 | 10:00 AM
Australian designer Jesse White’s line Shakuhachi has been out since 2001, but we’ve only recently gotten our hands on it, and it’s become a fast favorite. The easy, drape-y dresses in soft fabrics feel like you’re slipping into a comfy casual favorite, but the cut-outs, details, and pretty colors make them perfect day-to-night looks. The fall 2010 collection is the epitome of gypset style.

True Religion Gets Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness
Posted By | 08.19.2010 | 09:30 AM
It should come as no surprise that we love the color pink, so when a tried and true blue denim company such as True Religion takes on the rosy hue, we take notice. They’ve joined Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the fight against breast cancer, and along with a $25,000 donation, they’ve dedicated some jeans to the cause.

The limited edition style will have special pink crystal button details on the front and back and will retail for $284 nationwide and online.
Go team pink!

Hermes J’aime Mon Carre
Posted By | 08.18.2010 | 09:30 AM
Ever wonder how to wear your Hermes scarf? Fret not fair ladies, the luxury brand has launched a spin off of their already scarf laden site called J’aime Mon Carre, or en francais, I love my scarf.

Bevies of international beauties can be seen wearing the iconic scarf as shirts, turbans, headbands, belts, bracelets, skirts and more. Who knew there were so many ways to tie a scarf? The site also has a pictorial step-by-step manual on how to tie your scarf a la the fashionable women.
This reminds us of Burberry’s Art of the Trench, and we love it. I am itching to go home and play with my carre!
