One of a Kind Weekend: Neinast Salon Showcases Van Dame Jewelry and Stainback Abstract Artwork

Stylist Paul Neinast has always been ahead of the curve. He began his career during the age of Rock & Roll by offering a Beatles inspired haircut when traditional Texas barbers only knew one style. These days, he offers a unique line of beauty care for stylish clientele ranging from Rene Russo to Jan Strimple. It should be no surprise that Mr. Neinast has a few more surprises up his sleeve: he’ll be hosting the presentation of designer Delight Van Dame’s one-of-a-kind jewelry and John Stainback’s never before seen artwork at his Neinast Salon studio on Fairmount in Uptown.

Van Dame’s personally handcrafted jewelry combines semiprecious stones, gold, silver, suede, and leather for an eccentric yet feminine take on high fashion. While her work has been sold around the world, Neinast Salon is her exclusive retailer. The unique pieces range in price from $189 – $3,800, and are sure to be hits with that special someone (or yourself—we won’t tell!).

The abstract artwork showcases the late John Stainback’s immense talent and experimentation with contract rollers and paint layering. Until his death in 2008, Stainback remained president of Houston’s hugely successful Stainback Public/Private Real Estate. However, a background in art would lead him to begin painting in 1979. With work reminiscent of Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollack, and Mark Rothko, Stainback’s original oil paintings are sure to become favorite’s for those curating a personal collection.

During this special two-day show, books on Stainback’s life, color posters of his artwork, and note cards will be on sale in addition to the original works of art and Van Dame’s jewelry. Sale of the $19.95 note card packs benefits “A Widow’s Heart”—a special charity supported by Barbara Stainback.
