Comedian Tone Bell Chats with CW33 Roni Proter

POP CULTURE TRENDSETTERS: He’s known as ‘Your Girlfriend’s Favorite Comic’ and it’s easy to see why; Tone Bell is a good looking 20 something comedian who’s filling up the night clubs.  We met him at the Addison, Improv, where he’ll be performing this Saturday night to talk with him about his sense of humor and personal style.

Roni: I hear you have quite a fan base from the ladies, why do you think that is?
Tone: I think because I’m a nice guy, and I look like an R and B singer.

Roni:  How did you get your start in this whole business?
Tone:  I was watching Comedy Central one fall and I was like, I can do that!  I had been on stage many times before doing plays and as an actor and on stage and I was like, I should try this for myself.

Roni: Each comedian falls into some sort of genre, what is your style of comedy?
Tone: I’m an edgy storyteller.  Like Bill Cosby, he’s a big influence on me, mixed with a little Seinfeld, that’s how I write and how I perform.

Roni: Do you use Twitter and Facebook to feel out your jokes?
Tone:  Facebook is my tool to really throw out a story.

Roni: How would you describe your personal style?
Tone: I always sport a calculator watch, that’s my thing.  I’m a sneaker head, I love sneakers, I’m the only one in the world with the sneakers right now, they’re red leather Chuck Taylors.

Roni:  Today we’re at the Addison Improv, you’re a regular here.  But what is your dream venue to perform?
Tone: I guess up in Montreal Just for laughs comedy festival, one day I’d like to get that invite.
