We’ve learned to love it when the worlds of fashion and cinema collide. In Lagerfeld Confidential, we were charmed by “Uncle” Karl’s sassy quips on everything from life to fashion; the relationship between Valentino Garavani and longtime partner Giancarlo Giammetti melted our hearts in Valentino: The Last Emperor; and we liked seeing a softer side of Anna Wintour in The September Issue. It’s the late Yves Saint Laurent’s turn now, and the French-made L’Amour Fou looks promising.

Artist Pierre Thoretton’s first feature film, released in Paris on September 22, focuses on Saint Laurent’s relationship with onetime lover and lifelong business partner Pierre Bergé, retelling the story of the designer’s rise to fashion fame along the way. Much of the plot centers around Bergé’s decision, after Saint Laurent’s death, to sell the one-of-a-kind art collection the pair had amassed. The sale, dubbed “The Auction of The Century,” included everything from pieces by Matisse and Picasso to works from the pair’s first Rive Gauche line.

From his scandalous departure from the House of Dior to his trendsetting Le Smoking tuxedo suits for women and his infamous trapeze dresses, Yves Saint Laurent’s story is one we’re endlessly fascinated with. We can’t wait to see it on film.

A sensational spectrum of hues came forth at Prada, with the latest collection from the ever-cerebral Ms. Miuccia borrowing shades from the produce aisle—citrus, plum, and lots of luscious greens.  The ripe outcrop of ready-to-wear offered boxy, androgynous separates commingling with flirty dresses, furry accoutrements, and anything-but-basic button-ups.  Accessories were at the forefront rather than blending into the background, with bold bags and shoes— think coquettish clutchables and daring footwear for one’s toes to tread not-so- lightly.  

It was a spectrum of strength, as are always the works of Miuccia—season after spectacular season.

For resplendent red-carpet worthy gowns, the stars turn to Reem Acra. And this season, she certainly turned our heads with her pretty frocks.

From feather-bedecked gowns in pastel pink to column dresses covered in shimmering gold paillettes and everything in between, Acra left us yearning to don one of her confections and play dress-up for a day.
