Madonna and Daughter Co-Design Material Girl

Madonna has revealed a sneak peek and teaser video for her new Material Girl collection.

The Macy’s exclusive line was designed with her 13-year-old daughter Lola, and from what we can see, it covers every metamorphoses of Madonna: whether you were a fan of the “Like A Virgin” phase, the Blonde Ambition tour, or the time she turned cowgirl, you’ll find a look.

It may be geared toward the teeny-bopper demographic (just take a gander at Lola’s blog), but if you mix and match the pieces into your own wardrobe, you too can have a piece of the pop star. And at $12 to $40, you won’t feel like a material girl at all.

The collection will be available at Macy’s starting August 3^rd.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST TWITTER GIVEAWAY

Everyone can remember the spinning teacups and the music of Be Our Guest from the Disney film Beauty and the Beast. And now you can see the action live on-stage at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Winspear Opera House from July 13^th-25^th.

Mini Design Flea in Houston

If you know an interior designer or read any interior design blogs, you know that design professionals are constantly changing things up. Have you ever wondered what they do with the items they’ve replaced? This weekend, you’ll have a chance to scoop up some fabulous goodies from three Houston designers who have organized a Mini Design Flea in West University. The “mini market” will be open to the public from 9:00 am until noon this Saturday, June 26^th. Most items will be available at “to the trade only” prices, so they will cost significantly less than retail. Best of all, half of the proceeds from the Mini Design Flea will benefit The Forge, an organization that helps underprivileged children in Houston’s Third Ward. What could be better than finding something fabulous for your home while helping out those in need?

ARTSHOWTEN

Some unsuspecting characters are playing a role in Disney’s Toy Story 3, released in theatres June 18^th. The Paper Runway

One of Houston’s most forward thinking art museums, The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is currently featuring The Paper Runway, an exhibition with nearly fifty breathtaking works of paper clothing by artists from across the United States and around the world. The exhibit is a celebration of both fashion and contemporary craft. It features articles of clothing and accessories made from materials like newspapers, magazines, lottery tickets, and coffee filters. While some pieces would fit right in on the runways of Paris, others are decidedly more avant-garde. I wonder what Tim Gunn would think?
