Chick Lit Luncheon

For ladies who enjoy lunch with a side of lit, this event is it.  This Thursday, April 30th, Dr. Robert Tafel presents the Chick Lit Luncheon at the Brook Hollow Golf Club.  Featuring guest speaker Paulina Porizkova, international supermodel, author, actress, and judge on ‘America’s ¬Next Top Model, the event benefits Community Partners of Dallas and the abused and neglected children of Dallas County.

Chairs Leigh Anne Haugh and Marilyn Augur welcome you to experience a delicious lunch whilst enjoying a Partners for Children award presentation and a luxurious raffle with fabulous prizes from designer bags to spa treatments and more.  This lit is too legit.

Christie’s at the DMA

Last night, the Junior Associates of the Dallas Museum of Art gathered for “Demystify the Auction: A Mock Auction Event” held in the museum’s Horchow Auditorium.  The auction was led by celebrated Christie’s New York Auctioneer Piers Davies and the evening was supervised by Junior Associate Co-Chairs, Capera Ryan and Rachel Trowbridge.  Dressed in business attire, members and guests were given numbered paddles and allotted various amounts of simulated wealth to use for bidding. The event began with a wine reception in the atrium and attendees were then guided to the auditorium where key points of the auction and its process were explained and revealed.

Capera Ryan and Rachel Trowbridge led a brief introduction on the benefits of the Junior Associates Membership and shared some of the special opportunities and events the group participates in throughout the year.  The mock-auction worked exclusively with items sold in past Christie’s Sales & Collections including: JAR earrings from the Ellen Barkin Jewelry Collection, Jeff Koons’ Balloon Flower (Magenta) formerly from The Rachofsky Collection, and Le bassin aux nymphéas from Claude Monet’s Waterlilies series. The “winning” bidders went home with gifts from the 4th Wall Gallery and the Museum Store. Afterwards, many of the attendees reconvened at Nick & Sam’s Grill for a reserved prix fixe dinner. The lovely evening proved to be both educational and elegant, an excellent event for the existing and potential new JA Members.
