Hindsight’s twenty-twenty and a flute of Veuve Clicquot is, frankly, always half-full. It is, therefore, with subsequent satisfaction that a rather restless editor will reflect upon the summer season. Verdict? Marginally dull but mostly droll, doll.  The chapter opens with upgrades, as even the most languid lady’s apathy converts to contentment with the revitalization of her ready-to-wear. Nothing chases away the doldrums like Dior, and victorious is the acquirer of vintage Alaïa. Refusing to skimp on sartorial satisfaction, this fashionable fawn was most enthused to augment for autumn, scoring goods from Dallas’ most exclusive shops, such as VOD and LFT…FYI.

And we mustn’t neglect BNY, which happened to be the shop to spot Dallas’ most stylish men on the evening of June 12th. Yours truly, being most blissfully betrothed, found fulfillment in the female company of Ayo Fashola and other fashionable frequenters of the Dallas scene. Tack on two languid weeks and ten detestful degrees; the twenty-sixth of June saw joining of a chic congregation for the grand opening of the stunning Stoneleigh Hotel. Partygoers breathlessly beheld the Penthouse suite and drank in the lounge’s dazzling scene; enjoyment enhanced with cocktails and bites from Bolla, the Stoneleigh’s stylish restaurant.

July? Hardly saw it as it flew right by. Most initially enjoyable was the incident of mon anniversaire. A most stylish celebration commenced with the N9NE Group second anniversary soiree at N9NE Steakhouse, followed by the savoring of sushi and sake at sleek and stunning Kenichi. Thursday the 31st saw the month’s final fêtes with the Diane von Furstenberg fall trunk show at LFT and the opening of the latest exhibition at Light & Sie Gallery.  Both allowed for sufficient visual stimulation, respectively, in the form of radiant ready-to-wear and provocative pieces (one, in particular, by Hedi Slimane, former designer of Dior Homme).

The fourteenth of August called for sipping, shopping, and strolling through Victory Park with fabulous fellow writer Tara Kirk. We chatted convivially with the gentlemen behind VP’s outstanding outposts, such as Haven’s Jon Tutolo and Chris Martin (of the eponymous Christopher Martin Gallery), and we were blessed to behold the Brit himself, Mr. Duncan Quinn, a bloke in bespoke with quirky-cool specs and a charming little lilt.

Onwards to the Texas’ Next Top Designer event, sponsored by the Dallas Fashion Incubator, where the fashion pack had most egregiously gathered at HCG Gallery to view a runway show featuring styles by last year’s winner Julia Plume, among other up-and-comers. A lengthy conversation with Barneys go-to guy Jackson proved aptly amusing and works by artist Karen Garrett were positively astonishing. Local lovelies Terri Provencal of Modern Luxury Dallas and Gianna Madrini of Global Fashion News could be spotted amongst other scene fixtures such as John Reoach and Dallas darlings Peggy and Jacqueline Sewell.

The twentieth of August called for a most proper toast to Coco Chanel on the anniversary of her birth, including, necessarily; 1) a jaunt to Highland Park Village to view Lagerfeld’s newest ready-to-wear collection for the house and 2) the acquisition of exquisite essentials from the gorgeous fall color collection, which features, fittingly, the season’s hottest metallic and berry hues…parfait! Pressing on for the fabulous FIG Finale annual sale, this discount-loving darling darted downtown for the VIP preview party at the Joule hotel on Thursday evening, August 21st; a most glam gathering, with the likes of the lovely Gretchen Stofer-Darby, director of sales and marketing at the Stoneleigh Hotel, adorable Ashley Gage, FIG’s retail development manager, D Magazine’s savvy Style Editor, Stephanie Quadri, and the lovely Lauren Christensen. Friday saw women flocking to FIG and, the sale? Sufficiently successful…at least in rosy-colored retrospect. I was both blessed and bewildered to score a sleek pair of high-waisted Jeremy Laing shorts from my fave boutique belles, Liz Thompson and Jackie Bolin of VOD. Most graciously did I garner Jackie’s editorial expertise as she offered that Jeremy used to design for the sadly defunct house of Rochas before launching his own line. Fashion factoid…perfect new piece, double check. Divine.

Thus, it’s forward with focus for this fashionphile as she plans to take a sumptuously stylish bite out of the Big Apple for Spring Fashion Week…collection speculation and the requisite rubbing of elbows with the fashion flock…quelle vie!  A most fabulous fall shall follow, from frolicking with the Fashionistas to Fashion at the Park and an affair most rare with PinkMemo…so there.
