Pink is the new pink and it is definitely chic. Leave it to our fearless leader, Max Trowbridge, to show Dallas just how chic it can be. To celebrate PinkMemo's one-year anniversary, Max and her team threw a Pink Chic party at the W Dallas - Victory. Pink clad men and women walked down a pink carpet, checked in at a pink velvet rope and indulged in pink candy, pink cupcakes and sipped pink champagne, provided by Veuve Clicquot Rose. Beautiful people like, Robyn Wise, Jamie O’Banion, Stephanie Quadri and Albert Hernandez, Guillaume Coutheillas and Jay Billingsley attend the Pink Chic soiree as well Dallas notables such as Catherine and Patrick Colombo, Alonso Martinez, Terri Provencal, Stacy Girard, Gloria Campos, Chuck Steelman, Suzanne Bock, Greg Asher and David Martin, Laura Colligan and beauty divas Renee Rouleau and Susan Posnick. Everyone enjoyed an informal fashion show by the local up and coming designer label Koppani, designed by Zsofia Mezey, who made Max's and PinkMemo blogger Tayler Sandvick's stunning pink cocktail dresses. This was definitely the hottest invitation in the Big D, because Max had to stop accepting rsvp's several days before the event.  I was told that a lot of people who weren't even invited tried to get on the list!  Near the end of the evening, a bunch of people from the DIFFA party that was being held in another part of the hotel came up to get ‘in the pink’ and there was still a crowd hanging out as the bartenders wheeled away the bar. Every last bit of the pink bubbly was consumed!

Dress by Bradley Bayou

Bradley Bayou and his ex wife, Twinkle Underwood, were the toast of the town in the 80's. In his mid twenties at the time, Bradley made a fortune as a real estate developer, working for renowned firms including Richard Meier and O'Neal Ford. He and Twinkle lived the high life, hanging with the jet set and entertaining Rock Hudson and Andy Warhol at their University Park home. When the real estate market crashed, Bradley's life changed dramatically and he, understandably, went into a deep depression. Now, the award winning fashion designer has gained widespread recognition in the fashion world as the past creative director for Halston and designer of his own eponymous line of couture clothes that celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria, Halle Berry and Beyonce Knowles can be seen wearing on the red carpet.

He also designs a line for QVC and has written a must-have book for everyone who wants to make the best of their figure entitled The Science of Sexy. I had plenty of opportunity to visit with Bradley and check out his beautiful clothes before his fashion show, which was held at my house to benefit The Fashionistas. During the trunk show the next day I was very impressed by the fact that he really understands a woman's body and is committed to making women look and feel beautiful in their clothing. Would you like to look 10 years younger, 10 pounds lighter and 10 times better? If you answer ‘no’ to this question, you are probably a super model under the age of 20, or are a genetic freak. (They do exist; my 60 year-old husband doesn't have a grey hair on his head or an ounce of body fat and has never, unlike moi, had a spec of cosmetic intervention). Veteran beauty editor, style expert and author Charla Krupp's favorite line is "aging sucks!" I couldn't agree more. Forget aging gracefully! Don't celebrate wrinkles! We're not going to join the women who have had too much work done club! This woman is my hero, so I was ecstatic when Joanne Teichman, owner of the cool Galleria jewelry boutique Ylang 23, called me to invite The Fashionistas to meet Charla and get a copy of her book How Not to Look Old.

Charla is an adorable, petite, perky blonde of unknown age (she absolutely won't tell) who exudes a youthful exuberance and manages to look young and hip (Y&H in her lingo) without a trace of OL (old lady). The crowd, for the most part, was more on the ‘mature’ side, but still Y&H and definitely not OL. Kim Mathews, Joyce Goss, Rhonda Chambers, Kim Whitman, Claire Emanuelson, Monica Grosz, Tracy Hayes, enjoyed chatting with Charla and getting her valuable tips on how to keep yourself looking great at any age.
