Ikram Goldman Recognized with Legend of Fashion Award

On May 5th Ikram Goldman, the single most important figure in the Chicago fashion scene, will be awarded the prestigious Legend of Fashion award by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). The honor is in recognition of her achievements in the realm of fashion as the owner of her eponymous boutique Ikram. Particularly supportive of young talent like Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, and Thakoon, Ikram’s roster of designers is a veritable “who’s who” of international fashion.

Nick Cave, chair of the Fashion Design department at the SAIC, chose Goldman for her remarkable visionary abilities in the ever-fickle world of high fashion, design, and art. Previous recipients include Maria Pinto, Nicole Miller, and Anna Sui. The award will be presented by Sally Singer, currently Editor-in-Chief of the New York Times’ T Magazine, during the SAIC’s annual scholarship benefit and student runway show THE WALK 2011.
